
Obvious peace now pervade the Seme-Krake Border Command of the Nigeria Customs Service(NCS) since the assumption of office by the new Controller, Compt Timi Bomodi
Sources said Compt Bomodi has ushered in a peaceful atmosphere since assumption of office, though business activities are still low.
Our source also said that the Controller is at peace with all the stakeholders, the traditional leaders, the youths and freight forwarders.
And this situation has enabled the officers of the Command to work seamlessly as there has not been any upheavals since Compt Bomodi assumed office.
The youths o the community are now calm as Compt Bomodi is using moral suassion to keep them busy.
This has enabled officers of the Command to do their jobs with less hindrance while the Command’s revenue profile has improved drastically.
A peep at the Command’s showed that it earned more than #1. 7 billion in January and February this year despite the lull in business activities
The Command has also improved in its export activities as it has processed over 184 export declarations for43 items with a total of65.185 M. T with FOB value #13.05billion.
It has also improved on its anti-smugglig activities as it made a total of 168 interventions between January and February this year.
This resulted in the seizure of 2193 bags of 50kg par boiled rice, 81930 liters of fuel, 9 vehicles, 1425 general merchandise as well as 265 percels of Cannabis. All thos with a combined duty paid already of#365.88 million
A number of arrests were also made by the Command and some of them were handed over to the NDLEA.
In the process of doing their jobs, officers of the ccommand were confronted with a number of challenges, among which includes the terrain of their work place.
However, since the management of the NCS provided the Command with some Special Purpose Vehicles and other critical assets, things have started to look up for the Command.
