Seme- Krake Border Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has made a startling seizure of large scale prohibited goods being smuggled into the Nigerian market.
According to the Customs Area Controller of the Command, Comptroller Ben Oramalugo, the prohibited imports were neatly packaged in in five trucks which were intercepted on the Lagos-Abidgan corridor.
The tucks were discussed to contain a total of two thousand, eight hundred bags of foreign parboiled rice and 250 bales ofsscond-hand clothes.
According to him, the seized items had a Duty Paid Value(DPV) of Nine hundred nineteen million.
Briefing newsmen I his office, Compt Oramalugo explained further that the seizures also include eight hundred and nighty eight parcels of Cannabis, 1319 bags of foreign rice, 40 bags of sugar, 64 bags of flour, 50 cartons of ketchup tomatoes, one boat engine as well as 20bales of second clothing.
The Duty Paid Value of all the seizures in the last 2 weeks is put One billion, two hundred and sixty eight million, seven hundred and ninety four thousand four hundred and seventy four naira
He said that the seizures is a testament to the vigilance, resistance and doggedness of his officers.
He emphasized that his Command is not and will never be a fertile ground for Smugglers.
Compt Oramalugo said that in the spirit of inter-agency collaboration, the seized drugs will be handed over to the appropriate government authorities for further investigation and action.
On revenue generation, the Controller stated that his Command generated a whopping One billion, five hundred and ninety three million six hundred and seventy six thousand naira only between May and June this year.
“This achievements reflect our sustained efforts at ensuring that all l leakages are all effectively blocked,” The Compt stated.
He commended his Comptroller General, Alhaji Bashir Adewale Adeniyi (MFR) for his unflinching support and encouragement.
